Jarwin New Energy Smart Base Project: "Guiyang Service" Helps Achieve "Guiyang Speed"

2021-03-16

The mechanical arm of the stacking machine swiftly grabs raw materials; in the coating workshop, workers are operating the production line through the control panel; in the formation workshop, workers are performing capacity grading on battery cells... This is the scene at Jarwin Technology Co., Ltd.’s New Energy Intelligent Base in Guizhou.

After the project's landing, in just three months, the first lithium-ion battery production line at Jarwin’s New Energy Intelligent Base was completed and put into operation, demonstrating "Guiyang Speed."

“Our company primarily produces power battery cells and high-rate battery cells. By May of this year, we began producing finished products to meet customer demands,” said Hao Xiangwei, the company’s manufacturing director. Currently, the company has eight production workshops, with the first-phase project achieving a production value of 46 million yuan by the end of 2020.

“The stacking machine’s mechanical arm can operate simultaneously, producing two battery cells at a time. Each machine can produce around 1,000 cells per shift. We have about 70 such machines in the workshop,” Hao explained. The investment in intelligent machinery not only reduces labor costs but also eliminates the potential for human error, improves product quality, and enhances overall company efficiency.

Diao Sheng, General Manager of Guizhou Jarwin Technology Co., Ltd., said, “The land for our factory was a repurposed idle workshop from Guizhou Jinfei Wheel Hub Company. During construction, we did encounter some challenging issues.”

Diao recounted that the production process for lithium batteries requires high standards for waterproofing. For instance, if the roll material used to manufacture battery cells absorbs moisture, it significantly affects the cell’s capacity and internal structure, potentially causing short circuits and conductivity issues.

“In the past, industrial waste from wheel hub manufacturing clogged the drainage system. Whenever it rained heavily, water would back up, significantly impacting production.”

Upon receiving feedback, the government of Guiyang City quickly formed a project follow-up team to design solutions and coordinate with relevant construction departments. They managed to resolve the drainage issue before the project’s official launch.

“We are truly grateful for the strong support and assistance from the municipal and district governments,” Diao said.

According to the cooperation agreement, the Guizhou Jarwin New Energy Intelligent Base project has a total investment of 4 billion yuan and is divided into two phases. The first phase, with an investment of 800 million yuan, utilizes over 40,000 square meters of factory space to build four lithium-ion battery production lines. Upon completion, the annual production capacity will reach 1 GWh, with an estimated annual output value of over 800 million yuan. The second phase, with a planned investment of 3.2 billion yuan, will cover over 200 acres, including new production facilities, office buildings, dormitories, and other auxiliary structures. Construction is expected to start in April 2021 and be completed by October 2022, with an annual production capacity of 4 GWh and a projected annual output value of 4 billion yuan. The combined output value of both phases is expected to reach 4 billion yuan annually.

**Project Profile**

Guizhou Jarwin Technology Co., Ltd. is a high-tech enterprise specializing in the research, development, production, and operation of lithium-ion battery technology, with core technologies and independent intellectual property rights. The company produces power batteries, energy storage batteries, and polymer soft-pack batteries for drones, model aircraft, and automobiles. In 2019, Guizhou Jarwin Technology Co., Ltd. was listed as a key investment project in Guiyang City and successfully signed at the Guangdong-Guizhou “East-West Collaboration Industry Cooperation” conference.

The completion and commissioning of Guizhou Jarwin Technology Co., Ltd. are not only important measures to accelerate the opening-up and expansion of investment in Baiyun District but also a concrete action to implement Guiyang City’s vision of “One Product, One Industry, Prosperous Hundred Industries.” This is significant for strengthening the real economy, stabilizing employment, and ensuring job security in Guiyang.
